<< The way in which one gives is worth more than what is given. So too, the way of walking is worth more than the destination, the way of picking it is worth more than the flower… >>
The technique created by Étienne Decroux is in principle self-sufficient; it provides the artist with an expanded body, which will sometimes bear the weight of the world and at other times the very thin softness of a sheet.
It is a milestone for any artistic journey since, once fluent in this language, the person will have at their disposal a wise body (their scenic compass) and, at hand, the invisible immensity.
Decroux has made modern mime an art that can fluctuate like classical dance and shake like a martial blow.
The goal is to achieve a body awareness capable of living in a small gesture, a particular type of walk, in the posture of a gentleman passing by, but also in the way a cat moves or in the lightness of a falling leaf.
The course offers the study of the art of corporeal mime according to the Étienne Decroux technique.
Basic principles of the technique:
– Movements with fixed and mobile base; progressive and digressive; on the lateral plane, in depth and in rotation
– Les triples dessins (the three so-called expressive elements: head, chest, and trunk)
– Translations (body hierarchy)
– Compensations (body schizophrenia)
– Study on arms and their three levels
– Fingers and hands (positions and their symbolism)
– Dynamo-rhythms
– Weights and counterweights
– Styles of play (“Homme de Salon”, “Homme de Sport”, “Statuaire Mobile”)
– Marches in place and in movement
Repertoire:
– Dynamic figures (to put into play the acquired knowledge)
– Étienne Decroux’s repertoire (such as “Le combat”, “L’usine” or “Le menuisier”)
– Improvisation and scenic play
PHYSICAL THEATRE (Introduction)

Duration: 2 years

Through physical theatre, the actor acquires the ability to express themselves in all theatrical languages, through the study of universal communication dynamics.
Being a basic training course, it is also suitable for those who, without previous experience, simply want to increase their communication skills and have greater awareness of their body and its expressive potential.
