Research and Experimentation Laboratories on the Art of Mime.
They are designed to develop new ideas and concepts, solutions, find unexplored paths and expand the boundaries of this Art.
They are reserved for those who have already completed the two years of training with Matteo Cionini, but also open to other suitable people based on training, ideas, and aptitude.
The Mime Labs for the year 2025-2026 will be two:
Mime Lab #01: Mimedance
This laboratory aims to explore and investigate the border zone between Mime and Contemporary Dance / Dance Theater.
Just like in a chemical research laboratory, we will measure ingredients and make them react, causing explosions or changing the color and substance of things.
- What happens when Mime enters Dance?
- What happens when Dance enters Mime?
- When does a dance movement become a gesture that tells a story?
- What can we tell through dance?
- How much can we deform a story while maintaining its comprehensibility?
- How much can we break down a story without losing it?
- Etc…
Mime Lab #02: Mime for Video
This laboratory aims to explore the language of Mime in creating video content, especially for social media. A completely new field of research, to be conducted through practical experiments and analysis of references and case studies.
It is possible that some work sessions (or parts of them) will take place outdoors (natural places, streets, squares…)
- performances filmed in studio
- performances filmed in other specific locations
- urban performances / social experiments
- etc…
A rapid communication and exchange system will be set up to facilitate remote work (WhatsApp, Google Drive or similar).
